University of Pennsylvania Bolt Summer Medical Program

This program was conducted over 4 weeks during summer 2024 at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Below are some of the major activities and learnings:

  • Opened and studied dead cadavers, gross anatomy, human organs and bones, lung cancer and respiratory system and bioethics
  • Obtained CPR training certificate
  • Shadowed a live surgery and learned the fundamental procedure of a surgery
  • Performed Epidurals on mannequins
  • Gained experience in handling ultrasound machines
  • Sampled and drew blood in a phlebotomy workshop
  • Performed intravenous (IV) injections and spinal taps
  • Practiced skin biopsies and urine analysis
